100 Save the Dates for cheap

We decided to make our own Save the Dates. They each consisted of:

  • a 5″x5″ cardstock color photo of us
  • a printed vellum overlay on the photo that said our name, date of the wedding, and city of the wedding
  • cardstock insert with hotel and reception information
  • a gold envelope with printed clear address labels (in a great font!) and a monogram print on the envelope flap

We had a friend take our picture by the Esplanade, and had 100 of our favorite printed at Ejay Khan’s studio in East Boston (http://www.khanstudiointernational.com). Ejay prints all types of artwork and did an excellent job printing the pictures.

Next, we bought vellum sheets, cardstock, and labels from Staples. Next, we printed the overlay and the cardstock. We cut the sheets in 5.5″x5″ squares and folded the half inch over the photo. We cut the cardstock into 5″x5″ squares to add to the photo and vellum. We put all this into gold envelopes that we found online here. After stuffing the envelopes, we monogrammed the envelope flap with our press, added the labels, and voila! Sealed and delivered.

Engagement photos are fun to do

I thought doing this would be stressful, but it was actually a lot of fun. A friend of ours took more than thirty pics of us in different configurations at the Esplanade. We started over by the Hatch Shell with the flower trees in the background.  Unfortunately, we did it on a day with less light and more clouds, but at least we got them done before the blooms were gone. Now, it’s time to decide what to do with them. Magnets are overdone, I think. We may do a print onto card stock with a vellum overlay printed with our date, tying the overlay to the cardstock with a ribbon.
